Iota Sigma Pi of UNL - Nitrogen Chapter

Iota Sigma Pi was established as a national honorary chemical sorority at the University of Washington, Seattle in 1911, though technically another chemistry club beginning in 1902 at University of California, Berkeley preceded the official establishment. The honorary was organized in 1912, and officially the University of Washington chartered the Nitrogen chapter of Iota Sigma Pi in Lincoln in 1915. Although the chapter is now inactive, this sorority was strong during the first fifteen years of its existence. Iota Sigma Pi functioned as an outgrowth of the Chemistry Club, and allowed the women to balance the Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity.
