Alpha Chi Sigma Chemistry Fraternity of UNL - Theta Chapter

Alpha Chi Sigma was founded at the University of Wisconsin in 1902. Theta chapter's charter was granted in 1909. Benton Dales and C.J. Frankforter were among the charter members. The fraternity was an outgrowth of the old Chemistry Club. Membership was limited to men who intended to make some branch of pure or applied chemistry their profession. The fraternity favored dual membership with social fraternities, feeling that both the social and professional have a place on the campus and in the man's life. Starting in 1910, the fraternity put out a quarterly publication titled The Hexagon. The University of Nebraska's chapter is now inactive, although nationwide the fraternity is thriving.
