Celebration

Nebraska's chapter of Phi Beta
Kappa will mark the 175th an-
niversary of the national organ-
ization's founding next Wednes-
day evening at a dinner in the
University of Nebraska Student
Union.

Speaker of the eveing will be
Dr. Louise Pound, nationally-
known scholar, writer and educa-
tor. She will address the group
on "American English After Two
World Wars."

Founded Dec. 5, 1776, at Col-
lege of William and Mary in Wil-
liamsburg, Va, the fraternity hon-
ors graduating seniors with high
scholarship. The first recorded
meeting of the Nebraska chapter
was Nov. 19, 1895, although it
was not until Feb. 13, 1896, that
a charter was awarded
