This short piece of legislation shows the Nebraska legislature acknowledging their acceptance of 90,000 acres and 72 sections of public land for the purpose of an agricultural college. Additionally the State is clarifying their intent to work within the legal confines of land sales set forth by the federal government.

AN ACT To provide for the selection and entry of public lands in the State of Nebraska.
SECTION 1. …Twenty entire sections, as provided in section eight of said act, for the purpose of erecting public buildings at the capital of this State for legislative and judicial purposes. Fifty other entire sections of land to be selected for the purpose of erecting a suitable building for a penitentiary or state prison, in accordance with section nine of said act. Seventy-two other sections to be set apart and reserved for the use of State university, as provided in section ten of said act. Five hundred thousand acres as provided by act of congress, approved, September 4th, 1841. Also ninety thousand acres granted to each State for the support of agricultural colleges, as provided in chapter one hundred and thirty (130) of statues at large, approved July 2nd, 1862, entitled “An act donating public lands to the several States and Territories, which may provide colleges for the benefit of agriculture and the mechanic arts.
