Dear Marcia:
I now sit down to write what I suppose is my last letter home from this country because during the present week my steamer will surely sail for home. When once on the way the steamer will be about 4 weeks making the trip. As they do not expect to touch anywhere except at Montevideo and St. Lucia the journey will be a lonely one since I am liable to be a sole passenger. About April 1st will find me in New York or else very near there, and in 3 days more you will find me "bobbing up" in Lincoln.
Herewith I inclose a duplicate of draft on Brown Bros. of New York for the sum of $1200 . which I will leave in the hands of Mr. James of to be mailed a week or ten days later. I do this only to provide in case of accident which I do not
expect to occur. Still, it is best to provide for such possibilities.
I have retained sufficient money which I take with me to defray all ordinary expenses until I reach home. Also retain the original of draft.
Yours—
Lawrence Bruner
