Republicans Think Their Candidates May Pull Through.
GAIN ON HEAD THE TICKET
Populist Strongholds Show a Material Falling off—Little Relative Change on the Vote for Supreme Judge.
The returns which are coming in to the republican state central committee are very encouraging these days. Returns from twenty-nine counties show that the republicans have gained twelve county officers. These gains are made in populist strongholds like Kearney, Butler, Frontier, Nuckolls, Jefferson and Seward counties, where the republicans lost almost everything last fall. The returns on regents show that the vote exceeds that polled by the head of the ticket. In this county, while Judge Post only had a plurality of 388 with three precincts lacking, Kaley and Dryden carried the county by pluralities of 768 and 736 respectively with five precincts still to come. The republicans feel there may still be some hope for the regents. Returns are coming in slowly and only those from fourteen counties have been recieved. These returns show the votes of the leading republican and populist candidates, and are as follows:
