UNIVERSITY NOTES.
Professors Hill and Hastings have come. Miss Clara Conklin, assistant professor of romance languages, arrived Sunday evening from Indiana, where she has spent the latter part of the vacation.
C. C. Griggs, who was graudated from the electrical department of the state university last year, has obtained the position of chief assayer at a mine in South Dakota.
Professor Caldwell has the following announcement in the halls: "A course of international law will be given this semester instead of next. Second semester, American diplomatic history."
Everett B. Sawyer returned Sunday afternoon from Denver, where he had been for three months. Mr. Sawyer went out as a delegate to the international gold miners' convention, which convened in Denver July 9, 10 and 11. During the convention, which comprised delegates from all over the United States and foreign countries, Mr. Sawyer read a part of a thesis on electrical cyanide process of treating low grade ores, which was enthusiastically recieved. This thesis was the joint production of Mr. Sawyer and C. C. Griggs, who were in the electrical department at the state university last year. After the convention Mr. Sawyer spent the summer looking through the mines and mills and obtaining a knowledge of the practical workings of the cyanide process. He will now enter the university for another year's study.
