be prepared by the councils These desiring to unite, who are not new members of either church, shall be included in a list to be furnished by both councils for the benefit of the council of the new church.
Third, Immediately after the enrollment of members in the new congregation, a new council shall be elected pro rata. A suggestion was made that representative committee on nominations be appointed.
The fourth article exempted members coming from Grace church from expenses for a time that should not exceed April 30, 1898. This was to enable them to pay Rev. L. P. Ludden what they had agreed to upon lately making a contract for the year so that they might not break the contract.
The fifth provided that Rev. H. W. Kuhns of Omaha should be requested to supply the pulpit until a regular pastor should be obtained.
According to the sixth, the new church should eventually be located south of O and west of Sixteenth.
The seventh provided that a Sunday school be maintained at or near Fourteenth and F streets in order to provide against the loss of such as would find it inconvenient to attend north of O.
The last article read "This compact shall not be binding on either party until approved by the board."
The report was accepted immediately with no hesitation.
A letter was then written stating that the plan had been adopted and suggesting that the two congregations might hold a joint meeting next Thursday night if the Grace church had also adopted the plan. This letter was sent by a boy post haste on a wheel to Grace church. He soon returned saying that the church was closed and dark.
A committee of two was sent out to call up by telephone any member of Grace church who could be found and find out what had been done. This committee was told over the phone by one who had been a member of the joint committee that Grace church had met and refused to adopt the plan and that the plan of January 25 was good enough for them.
It was then agreed that a telegram should be sent to the board of the national synod which meets in the east this afternoon.
During the evening resolutions of hearty appreciation for kind services rendered were extended to Rev. Mr. Albright who has been filling the pulpit some time.
The church will hold its postponed yearly meeting on Thursday night.

Rev. Mr. Ludden, the pastor. was made chairman of the meeting. Mr. Ludden asked to be excused as he had a very important meeting of the board of education to attend. The congregation by a unanimous vote declined to let him go until they had disposed of the report of the committees.
Mr. Humpe of the conference committee, read the report which outlined a plan for the amalgamation of the two congregations. The congregation decided to take it up and consider it section by section. Each section was tabled in turn until they reached the sxth. It provided that St. Mark's church should be the center of Lutheranism until the joint organizations should build a more commodious structure which should be located south of O and west of Sixteenth streets Mrs. Lichty objected to this. Grace church, she thought should be the center of the Lutheran church in Lincoln. She moved that it be inserted in the report in place of St. Mark's. Her motion was unanimously adopted. That section pertaining to the formu-
