THE PLYMOUTH NOTES.
Pastoral Letter.
To the Members of Plymouth Church, Greeting:
DEAR FRIENDS:
As we enter upon another year of Christian service together, Plymouth church needs the loyal support of every momber. By regular attendance upon her services, offerings paid into her treasury, active service rendered along all possible lines, and above all, by earnest prayer for her welfare, you can show your loyalty.
With a devoted resident membership of nearly two hundred we should make ourselves felt in this community as an effective influence for Christ and the Church. The immediate prospect of deliverance from our crushing debt may well give us courage and the expectation of a most prosperous year of work. Faith and loyalty all along the line will win a victory, and the Master will say "Well done."
Will you not make special efforts to attend the Rally Meetings of September 2, 5, and 9, to urge others to attend them, to be present in the spirit of earnest desire for the spiritual prosperity of our church. The Lord's Supper will be celebrated next Sunday morning. The Thursday evening meetings both preceding and following, also demand your interest and presence. Let nothing avoidable prevent your attendance.
It is my purpose to give special attention during the coming year to the midweek prayer service, and, if necessary, to weary you with solicitations to count them among your regular appointments. I shall not rest nor permit you to rest until you shall have at least doubled their size and interest, for in them centers the spititual life of our church.
Let me also remind you of your social duties as Christians and members of this church. We owe to every stranger that comes among us a cordial welcome, and to one another hearty recognition of fellowship. Without these expressions of attention and mtual regard we cannot hope for growth or sympathy.
May our Heaveuly Father minister to you adbundantly of His grace, working in you both to will and do of his good pleasure.
Affectionately Your Pastor,
JOHN DOANE.
