80 56 When such a meadow is pastured to a certain degree many of the valuable species are killed out and the secondary species become thirsty emphasized as the soil becomes drier and more open. Such things as Solidago rigida , Euthamia graminifolia , Solidago missouriensis , and were in more seriously trampled areas, Helianthus petiolaris , and Cleome serrulata come in in dense patches. These meadows should be pastured with great care with reference to maintaining a good cover of the valuable species and a proper fencing and notation to keep the stock from the wetter situations at certain seasons in order to prevent the formation of "bogs" with all disagreeable consequences.
