sler lodged nearer the cottage, and as his daily talk was burdened with
tales of bob-cats and mountain lions, herpies and dregons, we conjectured
that his vroxinity to "home" was based on prudential reasons. Dawson
slumbered peacefully in the cottage nigrht after night; no sentiment in him

to eliminate the roof business and sleep out while he had a chance. Dr.

The accompanying photographs of Monroe Canyon in its varied aspects
will serve fer better than any attempt at description to ease @ true in-
pression of the place which was our home for so many days ~- any to one
whesee vacation ade always been measured by days instead of by weeks and
months. These photogravhs divide themselves naturally into oelans: those
showing the canyon as a whole, or the tops of the ridges with their pine-
o clad buttes; those showing the features of the deciduous growth along the
- ereek in the bottom of the canyon; and those showing bits of the roadway
