Dear Wolcott:

Found your card at office this morning. Went to library at noon and
looked through index of F. & S. XLIX. and L.; found only one title about
wild pigeons, and that had reference to report of their occurrence in
South America, and statement of our consul that the species referred to
was different. Will look further and advise..

Excuse brevity: lots of work. Best wishes to all.

Very truly,
Frank Knowlton

Dear Wolcott:

I enclose the "wild passenger pigeon" article, having
made an exact copy.  It is to be regretted that details
and proof are not given.

The article in question seems to have no recog-
nition in the index of the volume.

I agree with you fully as to the advisability of
naming Mr. Bates as the fifth member of the committee on
game meeting, and am glad to do so.  That game meeting
will be a great occasion.

Hastily,
Frank[illegible]

WILD PIGEONS IN NEBRASKA.

Last week, while driving through a grove along the
banks of the Nemaha River, in Johnson county, Neb.,
about eight miles from Burr, near Cook, I saw a flock
of from seventy-five to a hundred of the wild passenger
pigeons, the first seen for twenty years.
