Dear Shoemaker,

Your letter of the 26th of November was recieved
in due time and had intended answering at once but a num-
ber of things crowding on me at once have prevented.

I had the pleasure of telling all I knew about you to Mr. Young,
from whom a request for full and confidential information was
recieved the next day after your letter telling me you had given
me as reference. My letter was intended to "show you up" com-
pletely - I wrote both sides of a sheet like this full. Think probably af-
ter wading through my letter he hadn't the courage to invite a fur-
ther infliction from others to whom he might have written.

You must be having a delightful trip - have been picturing
you looking out at the mountains and taking short trips before
and after hours - after beetles, etc. Suppose it isn't the time of year
for tiger-beetles or you would be gathering a choice assortment.
You will have fine opportunities for collecting if time is only avail-
able. Will you take a summer trip, or will all travel be in winter?

My father is living with us now, and he and I are planning to
go hunting tomorrow. Shall be glad to have him here when you
come down next time and to have you know him.

Am very busy, so will not write more now. Our weather has
been generally fine with one or two cold snaps, in one thermometer
down to 8°.

With warm regards,
Very sincerely yours,
Robt. H. Wolcott.
