Dear Mr. Wald:
As you surmised, your letter about closing the Saigon office
was not a surprise to either An or I, but we were nonetheless sorry to
hear it. More important, we still have not heard that the Trib is
yet publishing. We would consider it both a personal and professional
tragedy if circumstances didn't permit the Trib not only to re-open
but also to flourish in the future. We both wish you the best of luck
in attempts to make this a reality.
Our thanks for the final month of pay,
which will be helpful.
Regarding your last letter of July 26, I'm enclosing a letter
sent to Mr. Kelletton Jan. 9, 1965, along with my Oct.-Nove-Dec., 1964,
expense accounts in which the initial $500 payment from the Trib to me
was deducted from my expenses. Hence, the $500 you mentioned in your
letter was no longer outstanding as of them, according to my records.
An additional problem, however, is that the New York business
off has with the same letter and expense accounts a receipt from the Saigon
cable office for 20,000 piastres as a deposit for our cable account. If
the accounting department returns that receipt to me, I'll arrange for the
Saigon cable office to refund the money and then close the Trib account
there in my name and An's. This refund belongs to the Trib, since I've
already been paid for it, as my enclosed expense account notes.
I've just received and paid ou
request for An's accreditation letter
off to you our last expense accounts.
Til then, the best of luck--
lest cable bill for June--the
and I will as soon as possible send
sincerely yours,
De
