SEABEES AID BAPTIST MISSION IN VIETNAM
Seven Seabee's from U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One Hundred
Thirty Three's security platoon recently volunteered their time and skill to
complete a fencing project for the Southern Baptist mission, in Da Nang, South
Vietnam.
The project consisted of cementing 34 four by four wooden posts into
the ground and then nailing five strands of barbed wire to them.

The

resulting 10,000 square foot trapezoid&l enclosure will be the futu~e
job site of a building used by the missionaries to assist the Vietnamese.
Volunteers for the project were: Builder (Heavy) Second Class T. L.
Smith, Greenfield, Mo.; Constru~tion Mechanic (Automotive) Third Class
W. D. Crisp, Brevard, N. C.; Constructionman Apprentice W. H. Judy,
Elkins, W. Va.; Builder (Light) Third Class N. Tepper, Chicago, Ill.;
Constructionman Apprentice T.S. Burke, Highland, Ind.; Constructionman
Apprentice A. A. Webb, Erie, Ill.; and Equipment Operator (Hauling)
Third Class C. W. Waters, Franklin, Ill.
Commander E. H. Marsh is the commanding officer of MCB-133, which
has been deployed in Vietnam since early February this year.
1967 marks the 25th anniversary of the U.S. Navy Seabees; the 100th
of the Navy Civil Engineer Corps whose officers lead the Seabees in action;
and the 125th of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (formerly Bureau
of Yards and Docks).
