Original caption: "40 knots - The USS Gallup knifes through the quiet South China Sea along the coast of South Vietnam in an Operation Market Time patrol. Gallup's 13,500 horsepower turbojet engine is capable of accelerating the ship from 0 to 40 knots in less than 60 seconds. Gallup, while on patrol inspects junks and sampans for possible enemy infiltration of arms, men and supplies to the Viet Cong ashore in South Vietnam." An American Navy ship on the open water.
