Viet Cong have launched an all-out "kill-Americanosonly" campaign
in the provincos of Viot Nam.

advisors said they take a number of personal socurity mossuTOS.
One district advisor said that every morning and evening, ho checked
to see whether the Viet Cong have put gunpower gunpowder in the
Gestank of his joop or his electric generator, which would cause an
explosion. He also checks for gromades and timobombs within the
engine of his jeep before starting it.

"It gives us a fooling of confidence to know that our
machineguns are working while we drive," he explained. "Of course, 178
don't shoot as we go through villagos, but we hold several gronados in
our hands, knowing that if we're fired out in a village we dan could
throw out a grenade. We don't know if we've ever it killod anyone on
the roadsides-o nover stop. That would be a trap for us and we'd bo
knocked off for suro."
