Ramon Thomas, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, crosses a jungle stream by air mattress moments after a brief firefight with the Viet Cong during Operation Summerall. The enemy, however, escaped through a series of tunnels on the other side of the stream, Sgt. Thomas learned later." An American soldier in the water. He is holding an inflated raft and a rope is tied around his waist.
