Original caption: "New School at Le Phung - U.S. Army Special Forces advisor SFC Charles R. Smith (of Okmulgee, Okla.) visits school at Le Phung, a village of 800 about 250 miles NNE of Saigon, close to the Cambodian border. A few months ago Le Phung was a Viet Cong village, before Special Forces advisors and CIDG troops from Duc Co surrounded it and drove out VC. Sergeant Smith was one of the advisors who liberated Le Phung. Now he checks on its progress, visiting the new school. At his left is Dihn Tri Vien, interpreter for "A" Team 215. Schoolmaster (in white shirt) is 16 years old." An American airman and a Vietnamese soldier are in a classroom full of children. They appear to be looking at one child's work. The classroom is bare, with rows of school desks and benches.
