Sarge, a four year-old sentry dog, was plagued by a fractured tooth which had become abscessed. Several members of the 981st MP Company (Sentry Dog) and the 764th Veterinarian Detachment came upon the idea of giving Sarge a gold tooth. CPT Charles W. Norwood, a dentist from the 518th Medical Detachment in An Khe, was called in for the operation on Sarge. He pulled the diseased tooth and securely fitted the dog with gold canine tooth. The result is a four legged, snapping, snarling, golden smiling Sarge, who boasts of this command unit every time he opens his mouth- imbedded in the gold tooth is a detailed green and gold replica of the 18th Military Police Brigade insignia."
