majority and A L Frost A A Mumo and G W Botsford were appointed as com. While said com. were reporting Society moved that the debate for two weeks be left to the debaters. The Challenge com. reported that the Pals would report in ten minutes. In the meantime the famous "Bill" com. with J H Holmes as Pres were ushered with all the imaginable pomp in to the Pal Hall. Mr. Holmes made a "Spread Eagle" speech which was taken to heart by the Pals. He said that it was the earnest desire of the Noble Union Society to take nothing which rightfully belonged to her "majesty" the Palladian. Mr. Holmes then read the bill presented by Mr. Elliot to the Pals. but by mistake sent to the Unions, for breaking dishes at their Banquet. It was not until the Hon. Mr. Holmes laid the bill on the sec'ys desk that the pals reluctantly and with blood in their eyes accepted the bill. The Pal com. then reported. With a number of genuine Palladian lies and a number of silly resolutions they backed water or refused to accept the Challenge. The com. then took their leave amid the wildest cheers screams and hissess by the Union members and their large and intelligent audience. Moved that the Report be accepted. Carried Society then adjourned in highest exultation.
