After recess the Oratorical com. reported the class would be filled without trouble

Under new business Mr. Holmes spoke of the new society, expressed feelings of regret, but thought it best for the Union society that a new one be formed. He then read the following list of names who wished to withdraw from the Unions and enter the new society.

C.W. French   J.B. Fogarty
E.R. Holmes   F.A. Rockold
Myra Clark   Miss Stockton
Miss Forsyth   R.E. Oliver
Resignations accepted.

Mr. Peterson handed in his resignation as treasurer because of too much work. Resignation accepted. M.F. Bigelow moved that we proceed to elect a critic and treasurer to fill vacancies, carried. Peterson, M.F. Bigelow Webber and Miss Tower nominated as candidates for -treasureship critic, Webber elected. Hoft and Barkley nominated for treasurer. Barkley elected. M.F. Bigelow mnoved that as we are entitled to two representatives in the local contest and as Mr. Allen had resigned his membership in the Union society, that Mr. Webber be elected to fill vacancy. Webber positively declined. Almy moved that the winner in the Union contest be requested to enter the inter society contest, Adj. before coming to a vote.

About two weeks ago society circles were startled with the

“ee society. ‘The movement was helped by old mem-

the ‘Delian,’? the meaning of which our classical friends
may decipher. The society will meet for the present in
room 7, on Friday evenings. Those who have gone into the
society feel that the old societies will be aroused to greater

| tivity by their reduction in membership, and the cause of | —

open literary societies in general will be Strengthened by this
new exponent of the theory,
