The Future
Journal Brief
YEAR: 2017
START DATE: May 31, 2017
END DATE: July 4, 2017
Photos from my house and garden in Dallas. An assessment of “where am I right now?” This journal was a rapidly done inventory, attempt to return to innocence and reckoning with health, fitness, aging and well being.
Part 1:
There was the death of Flame - one of the triplet kitties. All three were very sick when we got back from Mexico. Flame did not survive. Always hard for me. Bliss by myself in a Best Western motel in Lincoln, NE. A conversaton with Sandra Johnson - one of my first and best friends from UNL, and one of my favorite conversationalists. Many questions to ask myself about building optimum health and well being. Fat. Why? Why don’t I deal with this? What does it matter? What are the worst case senarios? What has to go to change? What gets added in? What is the best picture for physical well being? Sleep habits? Ten things to do. With my departure? Shelley Thornton’s birthday. Chart: There needs to be a clear pipeline. Chart: An obstructed pipeline. Chart: Like a Morris Louis painting.
Part II:
Place. Photo details of color, texture, objects from around the house and studio. A sense of place to come home to. A place to serve. Aplace to create and grow. A place to rest. A place to love. A place to meditate. A place to recharge. A place to nourish. A place to dream. A place to think. A place to prepare. LIFE EVENTS: Beginning of reassessment process. Four days alone in a motel in Lincoln. Plenty of sleep.Minimal distractions or interruptions, allowing me time to consolidate and merge thoughts.

29 Pieces lost funding from a major funder and was in financial crisis. We’d needed to move from our office on Jefferson Blvd. This is part of the discernment and assessment process of discovery of what might be next and how I would find the energy and strength to meet the moments. I wanted to document some of the colorful details of our home. Journal is created from a paper sample book from Clampitt Paper.
Continued work on new lessons of 29 Pieces. Forgiveness, Curiosity and Souls Hidden. The energy output of moving the office away from Jefferson Blvd. and the beginning of working remotely.
