PARTNERS/COLLABORATORS/VENUES
European Graduate School
Farestart, people who care about creating jobs and ending hunger in America
Sanctuary Art Center creating innovative outreach programs for high risk and street outreach
2nd Chance, employment programs for the homeless.
Recovery Cafe The street will be the stage for the art.
PROJECT: The students will work in teams to create large scale stenciled back drops. The work will be used as back drops for art-making and storytelling events located in public places that will take place during the month of July and September. As a back drop is completed a new one will be used until a series of 12 have been completed. The work will be cut, processed, passed out to the participates and posted over the summer.
THE TEAMS WILL EACH DETERMINE THE BASE OF EACH WORK FROM ONE OF THESE 5 THEMES:
What is an economic cost of war? What is the human cost of war?
There is no 'them' only us, compare and contrast dire connections to the same.
What role do leaders (responsible or black and white) play in violence in society?
As each leader promotes fear how much deeper do the depths of people's humanity dwindle?
How might the public helps sustain people.
