I loved spoiling her on her birthday and at holidays. I must have been such a puzzle to her. She never liked my straight hair. She never liked the way I dressed. She never liked Kelly and I lived together before marriage. She mostly felt ashamed of me on one hand. But then on the other those startling accomplishments. Pulitzer, Absquat, book projects, newspaper stories.

None of it was easy for her. None of it was easy for him. I know there was a big part of her whose highest hope for me would be to marry a Columbus boy, stay near, raise a family and guide her grandchildren. We all have our own destiny. I'm not out for us when we step into this world. And I think I hold to this. I'm pretty sure that she loved me. People can't know anything how I felt about her. I think I knew her fairly well. I wonder if she'd say the same of me. - Rights
