The handwritten text is predominantly in black ink, with a cursive and slightly slanted writing style. Left Page:
"While terrified, she could arrive at courage. Acceptance even that they all may die.
She loved nature and couldn't wait to be out in nature again. She craved fresh air, the sky, trees, flowers, sun.
She wanted to be in love - one very special person to understand and love her. There were 2 "Peters." The one in the annex and the one from before.
She was buoyant. Seemingly irrepressible. While living in impossible conditions she amusing herslef in her writing and...
She was a VORACIOUS LEARNER. Unbelievable. All those in the annex were. They put us to shame."
Right page:
"In one moving entry, she writes what all the folks art studying + reading. My God. Correspondence converses in English + French, Greek mythology, Geneology of various European royals, history of all sorts, American movie stars, You name it. And Anne + the rest studied actively. They were preparing for a life after.
Her story activates our imagination - in all directions.
What would I do if I had to be locked into a small space for 2 years with 5 adults + 2 other teenagers?
How would I be able to stay so still and quiet? How did they?
How bad must it have smelled?
Would I, could I be as imaginative in keeping hope, love + humor alive?" - Rights
