"SARAH SALAZAR: the most important part is the conversations that this project is starting. We are engaging in these difficult conversations. How do we move forward to heal?
MAURICIO NAVARRO: It gives us a means to respond to what’s happened (on January 6, 2021). What can I do about the injustice and everything that’s been happening? When I watch TV I feel completely helpless. What else can I do but vote and watch CNN? I voted and I did my part but I still feel there’s something else I can do. Hopefully this will fill that void.
(2) The American LOVE Project is important because it provides Americans a means to respond to the question, “What can I do to empower this country? I voted, yet I still feel empty.” The American Love Project aims to fill the void that many Americans feel. Hopefully, through art and self-expression, we can finally fill that void.
DIANA O'CONNER: I believe people are looking for ways for one individual to have a voice expressed through their own mind. Creating art will reduce the hopelessness induced by the previous year of pain and hurt. It’s the opportunity for one to be part of the whole. E pluribus unum.
PETER WOOD: We are stronger than any uprising. We are braver than any hate. We are focused on our appetite for healing.
BARBARA MILLER: Preface: The choice of how to spend my very limited time is informed by my spiritual practice, and realizing that to live an intentional life, I have to remember (from moment to moment) what I truly want. And love for all beings is central to this desire (the realization of the unity of life).
TALP is important to our country because: TALP reminds us of our highest ideals, remembering what connects us, what unites us (or what could unite us), which can help us to heal and give us hope for the future.
KAREN BLESSEN: The voices of division and hatred have had their day. The time is now to listen to the voices of LOVE. (2) There is a tension – a disconnect – between the promised ideals of our country and the reality." - Rights
