We continued mending quilts
or the original fabric was loosely woven.
The stitching was too loose from the beginning.
The thread was weak.
Do you take what scraps you can and use that?
Patch with bright and cheerful colors. Embroider.
Simply understand that all things—quilts, animals, people, friendships, marriages—have a life span.
We can mend and clean as we go. Once we can use them and dispose of that which is too frayed and beyond repair.

A few more
The weight of the person sitting on it pulls it off.
The quilt could be treasured
It's a much love of pain
Embroidered and weathered
With the doggies in those
By the worn quilt.
The red quilt I bought in
Johndown and brought
back is full of little
Unravelings and loose stitches
I thought there'd be
Four or five problems
But it is riddled
With loose areas.
