Years of Portraits

"Expressionism. Well, sometimes you feel that you might as well express your own individuality because that's what you're doing. That's what holds me. Escapism is close to imagination. I suppose that's why I'm so attracted to imagination. It's more important than knowledge. But that's very self-congratulatory."

He looked at these artists for inspiration: Jackson Pollock, Francis Bacon, Andy Warhol, José Bedia, Rolling Stones, Yves Klein, Salvador Dali, and many more. He quoted mottoes he lived by from Albert Einstein, Oscar Wilde and others.

We talked for more than 90 minutes. He was relaxed, Jeffrey was insightful and funny in his responses. He laughed a lot. He was vulnerable.
